Workforce planning and action project evaluation – Regional farm pilots

Project overview

This project aims to explore the progress and impacts from Dairy Australia’s investment in regional workforce pilots as part of their national workforce development strategy. The project will draw on the broader evaluation plan for the strategy (May 2012) and focus on the regional farm pilot projects in Tasmania and Western Victoria to determine:

  1. What are the mechanisms for stimulating workforce planning?
  2. What are the outcomes from workforce planning (expected and unexpected?
  3. Does the dairy industry have greater capacity to plan and take action to address workforce issues (i.e. the sustainability of the process).

Industry outcomes

A report on the progress of the regional farm pilots for evaluation purposes, particularly:

  • The extent to which workforce issues are being addressed through collaborative action in the dairy sector.
  • The size and nature of returns (to date) from the collective investment.

The findings will contribute to current theory and practice on workforce development systems.

Project Duration

June-September 2014
